How we use AI

We are a small team. Two friends, a handful of collaborators, and a lot of kettle refills. So yes, we use AI in our workflow, and we would rather tell you exactly how than let you wonder.

What it helps us with

We use it as a collaborative think partner. We go back and forth with it, we let it interview us, and we ask it to pull patterns out of big piles of notes, research, and data that would take us weeks to sort alone. It helped us build this website too. We bring our own UX and product design experience to those sessions, we hold it to our own design system, and we keep it honest about best practices.

What stays human

The humans make the decisions. Every story we share here actually happened to us. The geese, the canal, the summer camps, the 206 mugs. We write on pen and paper first, then move to the computer. The photos are ours, taken with our own cameras in places we actually stood.

One thing we are proud of: we are using new technology to show you can still make something deeply human with it. The tools speed up the busywork. The noticing, the wandering, the writing, that part stays ours.
