The one holding the pen most days. Alex taught multilingual learners for 10 years and kept the best part of the job: asking the kind of question that hands the room to whoever's answering. She left on a gap year in 2023 and quietly never booked the flight back.

Alex runs content and experience for everything RoHaus makes, which mostly means she decides how things feel: the letters, the pages, the way a parcel opens.
Before this she spent a decade teaching multilingual learners, picking up an MPA and a UX design practice along the way. In 2023 she left to hike the hygge way across Europe (hyggelighiking, she calls it, and the word stuck). The Netherlands did what the Netherlands does. She stayed.
Now she lives in Leeuwarden with Berke, rides a Dutch bike, often in a yellow rain jacket, and keeps a kettle that's never quite off.
Taylor

Taylor helps shape the thinking behind RoHaus. With a background spanning sociology, climate and environmental work, UX research, product strategy, and life-centered design, she brings a systems perspective to the ideas taking shape.

She connects the dots other people walk past, then asks the question that makes the idea sturdier. Taylor brings that same lens to the spaces we create, exploring how the things we collect, the places we've been, and the ideas we bring home can create spaces that feel meaningful and cozy.
She's lived in 5 countries, working with tiny nonprofits and global teams on how people and the places they live get along. She believes good design starts with the relationship between people and the living world around them, and she designs for both.

our story
We've been telling stories since we were small.
Same summer camps in the Upper Peninsula woods. The adults taught us how to sit around a fire without checking a phone (we didn't have phones) and how to notice what the day was actually doing. Later, in high school, we competed in the storytelling category of forensics theater, both placed, both won a few. Holding a room of strangers with nothing but our voice.
Later, we became the counselors. Cabins of kids in the middle of the wilderness, campfires after dark, us telling the stories we'd been told and kindling their imaginations until they were telling their own.
We forgot we had this skill for a while. Then we remembered. Long Story Long is what we're calling it. A cozy corner of the internet for the kind of storytelling that doesn't fit a 15-second clip. Voice notes from wherever we happen to be, travel tales we've been carrying around for 15 years, the small ordinary things we notice on a Tuesday morning.

Our social media ads and backend Shopify extraordinaire. If something technical hums along quietly back there, Berke is probably the reason. He runs his own studio, Third Floor Studios.
Keall
videographer
The videographer behind our Paper Trails Kickstarter video and the intro film for the website. Alex shot most of the footage on the road. Keall wrote the script and brought it all together.
Lily
ugc social media content
The newest chair at the table. Lily is starting to create the short, cozy videos of our products living out in the real world. She's growing her own creative corner while she does it, and we're cheering her on the whole way.
Avery
brand & visual design

The visual half of our origin story. Avery built the brand with us from scratch: the colors, the textures, the typographic feel of everything you're looking at now.

She built the framework of Cozy Corner Post and gave it the visual language that made the first fifty subscribers stay. She's also quietly steering Paper Trails design from afar, between newborn naps.

The RoHaus Universe
First, the name.

Calm, quiet, restfulness. The hush of a room when nobody's rushing through it. The feeling of putting the kettle on for no particular reason. Two little letters that even feel good to say out loud.

Home. German, with the spelling shifted just slightly. Taylor's husband Jens is German, their daughter is too.
The little house in our logo is Avery's. She's our designer, and after we told her what we wanted the name to embody, she drew it by hand to feel like every sweet little house we've ever loved. Lots of windows, so you can picture the candle and lamplight glowing inside, and a soft curl of smoke off the chimney. Somebody's home.

Back in 2013, Alex spent a gray January in Cork, Ireland. Gray on gray on gray on gray, until she took the long way home one day and found whole rows of houses climbing the hills. Butter-yellow, coral pink, bright little pops of color holding the line against all of that gray. She's been photographing rows of houses ever since. When she finally stood in front of Nyhavn on our Denmark trip, the most famous row of them all, she stayed longer than the photo needed. She kept turning over everything she and Taylor had been chatting about all trip, and pictured the two of them slowly collecting row houses all around the world together one day. Maybe next time you'll slow down and notice the row houses in your neck of the woods too.

A lot of how Long Story Long is built traces back to it. We make physical things, and physical things leave a mark. Learning the frameworks while the business was still on paper meant we could ask better questions about print runs, packaging and shipping, before any of it hardened into habit.
Level 1 covers the Triple Bottom Line, the circular economy, Doughnut Economics and the Business Model Canvas, and it closes with a self-reflection graded against a competency rubric.

The next one. A few days in Lisboa in November, sitting in rooms with people building things, then home with a notebook we'll actually reread. We're going as a very small company in a very big room, which is mostly the point.
